Dave's birthday and Valentine's Day

Dave was in Orlando for a conference on the 14th (I'd like to thank the smarty pants that thought a conference over Valentine's every year would be a good idea), so we celebrated when he got back.

I was having a hard time thinking of a good present for Dave (so what else is new). There's not a lot here that he wants to buy and anything I could have had shipped from the states just means something else to drag back home. Dave has been wanting to go on a Ultra-light plane flight. We see them circling the lake every weekend. So I figured the best gift I might be able to give was to schedule one for him. We both put things off till the last minute, so I thought it would save us some rushing to fit it in before we left. Well, it turned out to be more of a job than I thought. No one seems to know exactly how to schedule one and I spent 4 hours during the weekend he was gone trying to find the airfield in Chapala where they supposedly take off.

So I'm still working on that.

To welcome Dave home, the kids and I decorated our bedroom with tons of valentine hearts.

I made some barbeque for dinner and a Chocoflan (of course) for dessert.

He got some great books from his parents. Always needed.

Dave also brought home some presents for the kids from Orlando. They are pretty cute, if also incredibly cheesy.

I hope he had a good day. He makes me laugh every day and I can't imagine my life without him. Love you Dave.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Reed

This last week we were lucky enough to have Dave's parents come visit us for a few days. They got to see some of our favorite spots, eat lots of great food, celebrate Amelia's birthday, go to church with us, go to Tonala for some shopping and visit Mezcala Island. It was lots of fun and we were sad they couldn't stay longer.

As for the rest of you, we offer an open invitation to anyone that would like to visit. We have a few extra beds and the kids love to sleep on the furniture. If Guadalajara is too expensive a flight for you, we'd love to meet you in Puerto Vallerta and spend time at the beach. We are serious. We love to show everyone this great place we live.

Random Mexico

I've decided I need to post more pictures of the random and unusual things we see here in Mexico....so here's the first one.

This afternoon a horse was grazing out our front door. We don't have a horse. It looks farther away than it really was. I was afraid it might graze me.

Amelia's Birthday

Amelia is 5! And boy did we celebrate.

Dave's parents were here the 7th to the 11th, so we decided to celebrate early, On Sunday the 8th, while they were still here.

Amelia picked all the meals for the day. Breakfast: Cocoa Puffs and Berry Yogurt. Lunch: Steak, Baked Potatoes, and Cucumbers with salt and Lime. Dinner: Homemade Pizza. (Dinner got replaced with sandwiches on account of the fact I was too tired to make homemade pizza and noone was very hungry after such a big lunch).

Amelia opened oodles of presents. Very quickly. Hardly stopped to look at them. But has since made up for it by playing with them nonstop.

Amelia wanted a puppy cake. This is the best I could do in Mexico.

Today, her official day, we brought a cake for all the kids at school and she got to wear a dress instead of her uniform.

Tonight, we finally did her SpongeBob pinata.

I'm so glad she's 5. She's growing up so fast and she is such a fun and funny part of our family.
